The Ukrainian Air Force is poised to receive a state-of-the-art anti-missile defense system that will greatly enhance its ability to defend against missile attacks from Russia. The Italian-French SAMP/T air defense system is set to be delivered within the next few months, according to the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani.
Together with the American Patriot air defense system, the SAMP/T will enable the Ukrainian Air Force to shoot down missiles that it currently cannot intercept, including the S-300 and S-400 anti-aircraft missiles, Iskanders, Tochka-U, and the Kh-22. The importance of this air defense system in the hands of the Armed Forces of Ukraine cannot be overstated.
Furthermore, France and Italy have recently confirmed an agreement regarding the supply of 700 anti-aircraft missiles for the SAMP/T system, with most of the missiles to be sent to Ukraine and some to be retained in France and Italy.
